About Dan & Miriam Pope...

Dan is a third generation pastor who was born to a missionary family in Africa. His family moved back to the states when Dan was young and he was raised in Iowa and Illinois. Dan is a graduate of Eugene Bible College (now New Hope Christian College) in Eugene, Oregon with a bachelor of science degree in pastoral counseling. He is an ordained minister licensed by Open Bible Standard Churches.

Miriam was born in the Amazon jungle in Brazil where her parents were also missionaries. At the age of six her family moved back to their home town of Donaghadee, Northern Ireland. She is a graduate of the University on Ulster in Belfast, Northern Ireland with a bachelors of arts degree in fine and applied arts where she won a national art award for her work in ceramics. In 2000 Miriam accepted the call for a one year missions placement in Ottumwa, Iowa where she met Dan. They were married soon after. Together they served as youth pastors for a number of years at the Open Bible Church in Ottumwa, Iowa.

The Pope Family

Given their background as the children of parents in the ministry, Dan and Miriam have a unique insight into the family dynamics of those families called to the ministry. They felt the Lord's call to reach out to other pastor's families. Drawing on their own experiences they started their own ministry providing youth retreats and seminars for the families of pastors at various events and conferences nationwide. Dan is in demand as a special guest speaker and has written articles for "The Message", Open Bible's monthly magazine. Dan and Miriam currently serve as head pastors at the Open Bible Church in Belvidere, Illinois where Dan also serves as principal of the Open Bible Academy. They have two young children, Caelan and Rian.
